Death to WJW Photography.com

For now, wjwphotography.com is no more.  I am pulling resources and putting the money where it matters (company web stuff) and I figure blogger and my mac galleries work just fine for sharing photos etc.  It's been a year of building an on-line portfolio, so thanks for all the great comments and support.

Official Photo Geek

I took the plunge into some studio lighting,..well studio light with much thanks to mom. I went with an Alien Bee 800 due to it's great service, awesome reviews, and a price point that comes right below it's superior sister company White Lightnings. Of course I will upgrade the situation as time goes on. Don't forget my birthday is next month! I quickly had to get it set up and fire off some shots. So here is a couple without much consideration for positioning or much of anything for that matter. Good times! Tonight Kayla and Sue will be modeling and I'll be using the lighting and a medium format camera (loaner from school) for the first time. I have a school project with a theme of age, and I am going with the age old mother, daughter combo.

Film

Developed the film, but I can't scan the memory project negatives because my scanner can't tell the difference in each frame.  On a negative, complete black shows as white and due to the blackness of the photos, the negatives are strips of white with some chair detail.  However, I had some fun on half a roll before beginning the shoot and I really liked these.  I'll have to get into the darkroom to see how the others turned out.

Memory-Past

Not to many posts lately, hope everyone is doing good. I've been pretty busy with getting the photo business off the ground and am now back in school for winter quarter. My photo assignments are getting a little more involved now that things are getting more advanced. Our first assignment was to express a memory (past). I did a few test runs on the digital before committing to film and this is what I came up with out of the digital. Hopefully the film will turn out something like this. This chair reminds me of my childhood and the figure in the shot is my mother who will always be a part of my past. ...Items and people from my past that instigate memories of childhood. This is a single exposure and the only thing done in photoshop was the color adjustment. The shot was taken over a 30 second exposure in complete darkness. Everything was "painted" with a flashlight during this 30 seconds. Has a ghostly feel to it I think. What does it make you think of?
