Factory Animal Farming

In my environmental studies class we just completed a section on nutrition.  A few of our presenters were big time vegans and animal rights activists.  By no means am I a vegan, but my eyes were opened up to what our system of factory farming has become.  Sue and I had some discussions about this and our overall diet.  For one thing, we now get all our vegetables from a local farm which are delivered on a weekly basis (Starting in December).  We are looking into other sources for meat from reputable, local farmers of whom are against factory farming.  There are countless issues involving the very things we put into our bodies that we as consumers just are not aware of.  There is no reason for an animal to be put in a cage (a cage it can't even turn its head in) its entire life except for reducing costs to allow us to get that $1 Big N' Tasty.  There currently are measures in place to stop this one example.  WARNING This video is not for the weak stomach, but then again, that's why you should watch it.  This video, and a few more like it did move me and I wanted to pass it along.  We all have the ability to make decisions in regards to where our food comes from and what we put in our and our children's bodies.

The Lighting of Pigeon Point Lighthouse

This evening I was able to head over to Pigeon Point Lighthouse to catch the annual lighting. What an opportunity! Here's my favorite shot thus far. This is not "Photoshopped" and is the actual image captured. It was a foggy, cold, miserable night on the coast. Very painful photography.

This is off that newly developed roll. I could not wait to get this on here. Scanning these negatives takes a long time! More to come if I like em. I love this one and I plan on making a great print of it very soon. Photographically speaking, it has, framing, great exposure, composition, and personality. Not to mention, the subject is really cute!

Who Needs the School Darkroom?

Honestly, I worked on my portrait project for so long that I fell behind in a depth of field assignment. There is a local darkroom that I was going to use to at least get my film developed, but you have to have all your own stuff regardless! Might as well get the film developed at home on my own time. Just wanted to share my endeavor that I have to say was successful! No comments about my shower, it's a rental.

Last time we saw Marissa she was prego. She stopped by for dinner the other night, and I got to meet the new baby. Baby Isabelle. Here's a few shots of her.

Meerkat Needs a Smoke

Took Ava and Kiana over to Happy Hollow the other day with Sue, and I was having fun shooting these Meerkats. I swear, I didn't know what was going on until I looked at the pictures at home!
